The raging sex-for-grades scandal which unravelled as a result of a BBC investigation has claimed it’s first victim with the Four Square Gospel Church asking Dr Boniface Igbineghu to step down as a minister.
The academic, a lecturer at the University of Lagos was caught on video demanding for sex from an undercover journalist who posed as a student of the school.
According to the BBC, academic institutions in West Africa have increasingly been facing allegations of sexual harassment by lecturers.
After gathering dozens of testimonies, BBC Africa Eye sent undercover journalists posing as students inside the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana.
Female reporters were sexually harassed, propositioned and put under pressure by senior lecturers at the institutions – all the while wearing secret cameras.
